The purpose of worship services at Southwest Bible Church is to gather Christians together as a community to offer to God what He wants us to give to Him. Thus, our worship services are primarily focused on what we give to God rather than on what we receive from God. Our worship services are opportunities for us to give to God the things He has shown us in His word that He desires from us.
Here is the worship service format we will be following at 10:30 am on Sundays:
1. Open in Prayer
2. Watch the Sermon (https://www.southwestbible.org/sermons)
3. Pray and Give
4. Please see Realm for weekly updates on live video conference weekly worship.
1) Begin with Prayer (Matt. 6:9-13; Mark 11:17; Acts 2:42; Eph. 6:18; 1 Thes. 5:17; 1 Tim 2:1)
There is a lot more to prayer than we typically think. Among other things, prayer is an acknowledgment of our dependence on God, an expression of our soul’s longing to be present with God, a willingness to be open and vulnerable before God, and a transformational way of being with God.
2) Watch the Sermon. (Rom. 12:1-2; Col 1:25-29 & 2 Timothy 4:1-4 & 13)
The goal of listening to a sermon is to be shaped by the same part of the Bible as the rest of our church family at the same time. Hearing the message of a particular passage of the Bible together enables us to be used by God to enter into what He is doing to make us all more and more Christlike, as we align ourselves, in the power of the Spirit, to the truth of God, for the glory of God. The sermon will be available Sunday morning at southwestbible.org/sermons
3) Give (Prov 3:9; Matt. 6:2-3; 1 Cor. 16:2; (2 Cor. 9:6-12)
Giving is an act of worship (Phil. 4:18) that proclaims our belief that everything belongs to God (Psalm 24:1) and that God is our provider who will give us what we need (Matt. 6:25-34). You can continue to give as an act of worship by intentionally setting aside resources to help people in need and/or by giving to the church online.
4) Time of Response (Eph. 5:17-21)
God wants us to sing songs of worship to Him together. Singing enables us to blend our minds, emotions and voices together in a way that is important to God. Our worship services are primarily about what we give to God and this is something God has asked us to give to Him.
There will be no Sunday morning services at Boone Elementary
